#36 Elegant crocheted beanie

???????????????????????????????

It’s been a heavy snowstorm today here in the North and I’m sooo longing for spring to come although I do know that the last of the snow will disappear no earlier than the end of April. :/ Since snowfall is definitely not a rarity here I decided to fix me a chic beanie which can be worn both day and night. My primary goal though was to make something elegant that would keep me warm during an outing without making me feel like a Swedish lumberjack! 🙂 I’m just warning you that it’s a long pattern but trust me…it’s totally worth it!!

WHAT YOU NEED:

180g (approximately) of soft chunky yarn (I opted for baby alpaca)

1 12mm sized crocheting hook

1 tapestry needle

A pair of scissors

HOW TO:

Chain 8 and link your first stitch with the last one into a ring by doing a single crochet.

1st row: Work 2 single crochets through each stitch.

2nd row: *1st stitch – 3rd stitch 1 single crochet, 4th  stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

3rd row: Single crochet all the way around

4th row: 2 single crochets through each stitch all the way around

5th row: *1st – 4th stitch 1 single crochet, 5th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

6th row: Single crochet all the way around

7th row: *1st stitch – 5th stitch 1 single crochet, 6th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

8th row: Single crochet all the way around

9th row: *1st – 6th stitch 1 single crochet, 7th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

10th row: *1st – 7th stitch 1 single crochet, 8th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

11th row: *1st – 8th stitch 1 single crochet, 9th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

12th row: *1st – 9th stitch 1 single crochet, 10th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

13th row: *1st – 10th stitch 1 single crochet, 11th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

14th row: *1st – 11th stitch 1 single crochet, 12th stitch 2 single crochets and repeat from *

15th row: Single crochet all the way around

16th row: *1st – 4th stitch 1 single crochet, skip one stitch and repeat from *

17th row: *1st – 3rd stitch 1 single crochet, skip one stitch and repeat from *

18th – 20th row: Single crochet all the way around

Finish with a slip stitch and… you’re done! 🙂

Isn’t it cute? Baby alpaca is such a soft and warm yarn! I totally love it.
