#11 Make your home smell heavenly with simmering potpourri

Have you cooked fish today? Do you have a pet inside your home? Would you like to prepare dinner at home and make it smell inviting and cozy? Well, in this post you will find what you need! Note that you can use whatever fruit, herb or spice you have in your kitchen according to your personal taste or the occasion and create a unique simmering potpourri which will give your home an unbelievably amazing smell! Here you can find some strongly recommended simmering pot recipes.  🙂

WHAT YOU NEED:

Recipe No1

1 orange peel

1 lemon peel

1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoonful of powder cinnamon)

6 cloves

Recipe No2

6 cloves

1 cinnamon stick

1 vanilla stick

Recipe No3

1 orange peel

5 star anise

10 cloves

1 cinnamon stick

Recipe No4

2 cinnamon sticks

1 apple peel

4 cloves

Recipe No5

1 cinnamon stick

½ cup of lavender (dried)

1 teaspoonful of nutmeg

3 star anise

Recipe No6

1 orange peel

1 vanilla stick

HOW TO:

Store each mixture separately (make sure that you have dried the peels first). Pour plenty of water into a saucepan and boil it. Add your mixture and let it boil for a while. Then put it to simmer and leave it there for as many hours as you wish.

ATTENTION: Check regularly (appr. every 20-25 minutes) the level of the water and add when needed (it should reach half of the saucepan’s height).

You can definitely use your mixture more than once (my advice would be 5-6 times) after you have stored in the fridge. You will love it!

P.S. No1: It has been a torture for me to write such a post and be totally unable to smell…You see I have been deprived of this sense for a week now due to a severe cold and it does not get any better… The temperature is a bit low here in northern Sweden I must say.

P.S. No2: You don’t have to worry. I have tested these recipes long before the cold. 🙂
